4E Dental

Explainer

The Tooth Fairy

We have all visited a Dentist quite early in our lives. From trying to get that milky teeth removed in the childhood which acts as a rebellion claiming its false stake on the gum’s real estate, like a tenant who gets too attached to his rented house, to getting that shattered teeth fixed after being punched in the face for asking someone else’s girlfriend out for a date in your mature adult life. No matter what the reason is, it’s always scary visiting a dentist.

What’s scarier is listening to all the weird noises made by those equipments used to fix your teeth, making you wonder what’s happening behind those closed doors? while you try to calmly wait for your turn in the waiting room wondering if the person attending you is a dentist or a carpenter?

4E Dental completely understands your concerns, especially when you equate the erudition that goes into fixing a teeth to fixing a furniture. They came to us to discuss possible solutions that could help patients be more comfortable and educated while attending a Dentist. Because knowledge is POWER!

The idea was also to build a brand for 4E Dental which planned to create a library of resource material on Odontology which could be accessed not only by patients and doctors but anyone who is keen on knowing what goes into making and breaking of that teeth.

Now 4E Dental mainly focuses on building dental management software which help dentists improve and automate office administration in a unique way so that dentists can focus more on the problems of their patients and worry less about the hassle of all those paperwork, something which is a serious pain in the teeth for most of the dentists practicing independently. It’s sort of a web portal for dentists where they can automate communication with their patients, buy quality dental supplies, advertise themselves and even exchange ideas with fellow colleagues.

It’s sort of a web portal for dentists where they can automate communication with their patients, buy quality dental supplies, advertise themselves and even exchange ideas with fellow colleagues.

The challenge here was to make people aware of the portal and get more dentists on board the platform. Now to help the platform grow organically it was important to get more people to engage with it. Since the number of patients is always more than the number of orthodontists, it was important to appeal to a large group of people who are looking for remedies to their dental problems.

We helped 4E Dental in producing pilot content which helped them illustrate the possible cause, effect and solution for a few dental issues, which are of general occurrence. Each scenario analysis was in the form of a cross-platform video which tried to explain the occurrence of a certain orthodontic problem, how to go about a quick diagnosis and certain surgical procedures for critical cases. These were ideas made to educate both the general and professional audience for a quick reference, so the concepts had to be broken down for simple understanding.

After structuring the narrative, we chose to go with a visage which was a hybrid of 3d and 2d imagery and animations for a simplistic look without compromising on the details where necessary. The main animations were all done in 3d and the procedural placements and assistive elements were drawn on 2D. This method was not only appealing because of its clean look and quick turn out time but was also very cost effective.

Working on this project helped us getting closer to the field of Odontology. We realized Dentists are quite friendly people, even with all those razor sharp motored equipments at their disposal which go from a squeak to shrill at the press of a button, even though they make you look ugly with those braces, in the long term all they want to do is put a smile on your face, just beware of the ones who ask the question “Why so serious?”
