Through The Looking Glass
All it takes is a brush stroke to carve a meaning on a blank canvas. But art could be difficult to explain at times. Some strokes speak of a certain meaning, others might not seem to give away anything at all, yet if you look closely you can find the definition of an entire universe summed up in a single point. It always falls on that fine line between something random and something which is deliberate, yet if you don’t choose to pick that brush and move your hands to play on those lines, you would never make a mark.
Here is a collection of artworks that are a mix of commissioned and personal works. It has been a medium to tell a story and find meaning in abstraction for both us and our collaborators through our perspective. It has given us a chance to sketch out various narratives, concepts, style frames through various styles including Vectors, 3D Renders, Photography, Manipulations, Mixed Media and so on.
Here every picture has its own story to tell, every color has its own language to speak. Every object trying to craft itself into a distinct position in the frame to speak of its relevance in the overall depiction of an idea. Every imperfection put together perfectly to make it seem more natural, giving meaning to all the madness created by a few brush strokes on a piece of paper.
The Kawa Kawan basically means a Crow in Punjabi, so the main idea was conceptualized around a crow. The crow would be the central character and the entire world would be designed to react around it. So after some initial concept designing we decided to put our character go through a journey of sorts where it explores a new world as the song takes a new turn.
Entering the world of the Crow Master. The Crow is mostly symbolized with prophecy and mysticism. So we tried to stick with that belief and expand on those lines. From here on the idea was to create a dark and intriguing visual that goes well with the notion on which the track was created. We not only tried to stick to the core essence but also wandered a bit on the abstract side of it. The output hence was a mix to slow and fast paced visual storyline which complements the beautiful tune.
Taking the audience by surprise! From the time the remix was produced Tigerstyles were very clear about going experimental with the video for their existing audience base. It was all about an entirely new experience for their fans and how they engage in seeing things in a new perspective. We were quite confident that given the style and treatment of the visuals it would be well taken, especially by the youth.
The results were no surprise. On its release the video created quite a buzz on various media outlets especially in the UK Punjabi circuit, adding more admirers to their existing fan base. The video got featured in the top charts BBC Asia Network and Brit Asia TV. It also got featured in the upcoming and trending music videos on MTV Iggy.
